By boat, you’ll see a Sifnos that can’t be seen from the road
There is the Sifnos of the villages, the Sifnos of the trails, and the Sifnos you only see when you move a little away from the shore. If you have a day to spare and the weather is on your side, that last one is worth getting to know.
You can experience it in different ways. With an organized sea excursion shared with others, with a private trip, with a RIB, or even with a small boat you rent so you can move around more freely on your own. The point is not which option is “the best”. The point is which one suits the way you want to spend your day.
If you want company, an easy pace and not to think about a thing, a shared trip is a lovely solution. If you are a family or a group of friends and want your own schedule, a private trip gives you another kind of comfort. If you like speed and want to reach places farther away, a RIB makes distances disappear. And if you simply want to move quietly, stop where you like, take a swim and set off again without much fuss, a small boat that you can rent even without a licence can give you that freedom.
Just remember one basic thing: at sea, we are not the ones in charge. The weather is. If the route changes, if the captain says “today we’ll do it differently”, listen to him. A good day at sea is safe first. Everything else comes after that.
Take a hat, sunscreen, water, a second swimsuit and something light for the return. And free up space on your phone for plenty of photos!
