Morning at the port is magical

We usually see Kamares in a hurry. When we arrive, we want to leave for our accommodation. When we are leaving, we keep checking the ferry time. And yet, this port deserves a stress-free morning.

If you do not have time to go on another day, go on the day you leave, but from the morning. Sit for coffee or breakfast, or take something from a bakery and sit by the boats. Watch the suitcases, the children who do not want to leave, the people who have just arrived and have that impressed look. Kamares has this lovely double image: for some it is the beginning, for others the end of the holidays.

The beach next to the port is one of the most convenient on the island, and the landscape, with the houses and mountains around the bay, is much more beautiful than we usually manage to notice. If it is early enough, around 8:00-9:00, you will see Kamares, its residents and its shops calm, relaxed, almost lazy. Nothing reminds you of what will begin in two hours.

So do not underestimate the port. It is not only a transit point. It is an important part of a holiday on Sifnos. It is the first image and the last memory of the island. Go early and leave with the best impressions.
