Platy Gialos

Put on your best swimsuit and go to Platy Gialos! For years it was the most popular beach of the island and today it is the one with the most choices for food and drinks. It is also one of the two with the Blue Flag. Blue Flag is a European Award System for beaches which can accomplish more than 40 different criteria, among them checking the quality of waters every two weeks!

Friends groups are to be seen there, people who want to see other people, but also some families and couples, everybody will go at least once in Platy Gialos. Maybe more times J

You will also find sea bikes, canoe and wind surfing equipment. At the left end and widest part of the beach, you can find boats to rent for a trip around Sifnos or to nearby islands.

The trees are very few and their shade is rare. All the cafés and restaurants rent sunbeds and so does the local association. Alternatively, if you don’t try to avoid the sun, lay your beach towel on the sand, close your eyes and start counting the different happy voices you can hear… amazing?

Do you know what else I like in Platy Gialos? Walking along the beach, from one end to the other , with my feet in the water, looking around. You never know where you will find a person you know  J
